Drug prevention program for 5th graders
D.R.I.V.E. is a 9 week drug and violence prevention program designed to give the 5th grader tools to avoid drugs and violence and boost their self esteem. The 10th week is a D.R.I.V.E. graduation where the students get their D.R.I.V.E.r's license.
STEER IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION
The 10th week involves a graduation/recognition ceremony where parents are invited to share in the completion of the program.

Week 1 - Introduction of DRIVE program
Week 2 - Dangers of Tobacco - straw activity
Week 3 - Dangers of Alcohol - drunk goggle course
Week 4 - Dangers of other drugs
Week 5 - Media Influences - make a PSA ad
Week 6 - Peer Pressure - 8 speeds to "no" - SWAT team
Week 7 - Role models - Self - esteem
Week 8 - Violence prevention and awareness - strategies - report assigned
Week 9 - Jeopardy review of DRIVE
Week 10 - Graduation or recognition ceremony
